My iPhone Got Wet: Common Myths When You Sweat On Your Phone During Your Workout

We have all had a sweaty workout sesh and we sweated all over our phone. If you sweat on your phone and think, "Help! My iPhone got wet," here are common myths.

That was hands down the most incredible workout you've had all week. You even managed to reach a new goal. Good for you!

If only your phone could join in the celebration. Too bad your sweat cut it's life short.

What are you supposed to do now? Your iPhone was your baby and a very expensive one at that. The last thing you need is to try to afford another one.

Luckily for you, we have a way to help you solve this problem - and it doesn't involve throwing it in rice.

If you're screaming, "My iPhone got wet!" then read on to find out what to do next.
My iPhone Got Wet! What Should I Do Now?
Here is a common response that you shouldn't carry out along with some that work. Read on to find out more.
Don't Use Rice!
This is the age-old classic technique. It's also the one that will ruin your phone for good.

First off, dried rice is a pretty poor absorbent in the first place, so there's a good chance that you don't get all of the water out of your device. More often than not, you won't.

Secondly, even after setting it in rice, many phones became sluggish or unresponsive within just a few weeks. So much for that, right?

There's also the chance of rice getting stuck in your phone.

All in all, just avoid using rice. It just isn't worth the hype.
Do Remove the Sweat from the Outside
The first thing to do is remove all moisture from around the phone.

Don't turn off the iPhone, as that could be the last time you see the screen on. Use an absorbent material that doesn't break apart, like a microfiber cleaning cloth, to do the job.
Use Real Desiccants
If you really must throw your iPhone into something, at least make sure it's an actual desiccant.

Desiccants are items that actually produce a state of dryness. You can find them in your house in the form of "freshness packets".

"Freshness packets?" you ask. "What are those?"

You know those little packets you find in a lot of bags and boxes that say "do not eat?" Yep, those are the ones.

These little guys are masters at actually absorbing the liquid from your phone and doing it safely, so make sure to use them - and also keep some around for the future, just in case.
Let it Sit
Like a person who's a little under the weather, your best bet is to let your iPhone sit until it's ready to work.

Pressing buttons or moving it around could move the sweat in the phone, and that could damage it even more.

Just be patient and let it dry. If all goes well, you'll be using your iPhone again the next day.
